ReplyDeleteHANS ROSLING DID NOT MAKE ANY POINTS.
1. Ola Rosling does make points and I will back his claim up of everything gets worse/everythinggets better. It is very ignorant to think that way twoard life. If people looked up in the world there would be less ignorance and less failures in the social world. He would rather see people look up instead of being loaners. Yes I agree with this claim.
2. Most people are poor and their are no success full people/one hump. Yes I agree with this claim. You shouldn't look down on people and assume that the majority of the world is poor. Instead of looking down believe that people are majority equal. This will help you determine your situation on his test.
3.Again yes I agree with his claim. First rich then social/first social then rich. Instead of thinking that people's third world countries Are failing in brining women in to their school/ income situations he reminds us to believe the other way. That other way it to believe that women already have schooling and will create a good outcome this will create a better outcome. People have been judgemental and need to think before they assume they know the truth. Soon people will understand to think before assuming.
I agree with his ideas. People should always think before they speak or make a judgement. It's wrong to assume and of course wrong to be ignorant. I hope people understand what he is saying and speaks out. Now we know chimps judgements are better than ours!
Honestly I do not know a lot about the world. No I don't because I can careless about what's going on in the world. That is what school teaches me. Not to care and that learning things that will ACTUALLY help us in the real world don't matter. In all no I do not.
One question I'd ask is why does any of this matter to anybody at all?
1. 3 points that Hans Rosling makes are Ignorance, Global population, & Income Data. I agree with his ideas because there is a lot of Ignorance in the world. Rosling would rather see people look up instead of being loaners. If people would pay more attention in the world there would be less failures and less ignorance in the social world. I honestly think I don't know that much about the world but I do know some things about it. One thing I would like to ask Rosling about his TED talk is that how did you get so interested in the Ignorance of the world?

ReplyDeleteHans Rosling states that the amount of deaths from natural disasters have decreased. I agree with this because as time pass countries like the United States 🇺🇸 does whatever it takes to make sure the people of society are safe and ready for a natural disaster. They prepare of natural disasters by studying previous disasters and putting everyone in a better position to survive. Another point i agree is the average amount of years woman aged 30 have spent in school . I agree with this because in present day men and women need to be educated because now there is no limit to how successful they can be meaning they dont have to rely on men anymore. The only way a woman can prepare herself to not rely on men is by getting educated and everyone wants to be self reliant.
I dont think i know alot about the world this is because the only way i can get close to knowing alot about the world is be studying it for years and i still dont think that will be enough because I think studying the world takes generations making it almost impossible to know alot about the world. I also agree with Hans rosling's point about poverty. Poverty have decreased tremendously. Mainly because everyone can get educated enough to get and sustain a job. This means the only way a person could be that poor is by not making the right choices.
Hans Rosling, what made to come up with these intriguing topics?
-Quintin Q
I do agree with all his points because everything he said was real. he talks about natural disasters around the world. He also says how we are more capable now and days. but he talks more about different stuff. Woman going to school and there rights for education. And more about around the world.
ReplyDeleteI don't think i know a lot about the world. i say this because I dont know whats going on everywhere and i haven't been there. Another reason I dont know is because the news doesn't say everything about the world. One question i would have for ted is how does he get all of his information about the world? In my opinion i can't tell much about a country unless i go there and see the current events.

ReplyDeleteI agree with the ideas that he make because what he saying about these natural disaster that happen in different states he show how more powerful some are.
I dont think i know alot about the world. I say this because i dobt check up on when we are havingbany natural disasters dont watch the news and dont really know the map so thats y i say this
A question i would like to adk ted is what do u do when u know a natural disaster is coming ? Do u leave where your at a couple days before?
I think point on the world is that we look for to much hand outs with the government. Especially when it's a natural disasters cause when we are in a natural disasters we prepare ourselves not the government and the president. They prepare us by giving us information but that's all. We prepare ourselves physically emotional and mentally. So I really don't agree with Hand Rosling cause he see the world in a different preparative especially with natural disasters

ReplyDeleteThis video was very long, boring, and confusing so I tried the best I could to complete this assignment ..

The three points that are mentioned include personal bias, outdated facts, news bias. I believe personal bias is when someone has an opinion based on something that applies to them. So if it didnt apply to them, maybe they would have a different opinion on the situation. I believe outdated facts are facts that basically old. I believe news bias is when news reporters have opinions only because the situation may apply to them.
I dont really know how to answer if I believe in them or not because I don't know exactly what I'm believing in.. But I dont believe in bias news because they are only saying what they're saying because it applies to them. If that wasn't the case they would not be saying it.
ReplyDeleteI am not ignorant about the world because I care about it to much. The earth is probably the only place that we can live on so why treat it like there is other planets? I do my part to try to save the planet by not using so much water and also electricity. The older generation takes what we all have for granted and it is sad because they will never change their mentality. They left this earth for us to clean up they made a selfish decision by almost destroying the earth and not think about us. My generation will fix the earth and make sure it doesn't go bad in any way again because my generation shows more concern about earth then anyone .

ReplyDelete1.Hans Rosling makes a good point when he says that there have been a lot of deaths in these last couple of natural disasters
2.Hans Rosling aslo proves that the deaths in Sweden from natural disasters are minimizing from before
3.Hans also proved that in the last 20 years the USA has only 5% of people thats been living in extreme poverty.
I respectfully agree with Hans Roslings ideas.
No i dont think i know a lot about the world.. There is always things you don't know our will never know but based on natural disasters i think i know a lot about natural disasters.
What was causing the numbers(percentage) to decrease?
Victoria Lloyd
ReplyDelete3 key points :
1. Over the past years the deaths of natural disasters have increased tremendously , this is seen as a good thing because although damage is done to the country no loved have been lost . More research and money had been put into spending on time natural disasters and its studies .
2. "In order to focus on our future we need to focus on the present " meaning that the things we do and decisions we make will determine the outcome for later lives on the earth . For example global warming we litter and throw things on the floor and leave food in unwanted areas ex train tracks because we are too lazy to throw it in the garbage , stuff like this hurts the environment and we're not aware of that we always plan for the future but we don't seem to focus on what's happening in front of us .
3. "The media doesn't know themselves " meaning that anyone can just post something to post and people will believe them because it's what's trending on the internet.
I agree with Rosling not just because he's a researcher it's because he gave me and the other people more insight on what's happening around us . He's clear with his points and backs up his research with facts and he analyzes data in Sweden and compares it to NYC so we can see what's similar and what's alike .
I think I know a lot about the world , but every day we discover something new .
One question I would ask Rosling is what's makes his research and studies stand out from everyone else's .
I would say I would disagree about Hans Rrosling because you have to be ignorant with the world because of poverty and in Manny countries in the world .Also it's not helping nobody's in the United nations or family or global economy . Even with Manny skills demonstrated. So also i disagree it wouldn't be know achieve or accomplish ments in the world. I think Hans rosling point could be better. Even dough he traveled the world.

ReplyDelete1. I don't really agree with his ideas because i don't really put that much thought into it
2. I don't think i know a lot about the world after this because in the video he was showing questions and then people who seemed smart would mostly get it wrong
3. I would like to ask rosling about his ted talk about the world income tax simply because it seems like he knows a lot about it and i would like to learn more about it
ReplyDeleteHans Rosling make alot of ideas. He makes many idea that may help with the world. I agree with many of he's quotes. One of the ideas he makes is to try to make the teachers teach many new updated things that's going on now in our society, because many of those things change. Another idea that Hans Rosling mentions in the video is makes news journalist make headlines because "it's sensational " stated in the article, so many people would wanna see it. A third idea is global development mentioned "human rights, gender equally " and such more.

ReplyDeleteHans Rosling speaks about the amount of deaths in the world from natural disasters, the amount of years women spend in school today and the amount of people living in poverty. He gets the people to realize that they dont know what they think they know about the world by giving 3 multiple choice questions. He is trying to show how some people are so unaware of whats actually going on in the world.
I agree with his ideas because it was proven when he gave the test. Majority of the people proved to not know the right answers to the questions about world issues.
I think i know a lot about the world because I've been learning about the world since kindergarten
and apart from school i like to do my own research. So this topic might be one of my strong points.
Why did he choose to use the amount of years women go to school instead of something more mainstream like the other questions?
Most of us are ignorant in some ways and don't even know it. Hans Rosling states many reasons of why this is. One reason is because schools teach out dated facts and data. The generation before us grew up learning the things in their times, and they go on to teach our current generation those facts. Another point Rosling made was that there is a large gap between rich and poor. He states that it is getting larger, and that fact is a general fact to know to be less ignorant. He was stating facts people should know to generalize the most important info to make humans less ignorant. A final point that is made is that things appear more dangerous than they actually are, like natural disasters or animals like sharks.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the ideas of this speaker. Exaggeration is a big thing, as many people with different mindsets may believe fake or exaggerated info. We all grew up in different towns, with different people and little things that are different from each individual. I think I know enough about the world to give insight on these ideas. I was fortunate enough to be taught these things, but I am no expert and know far less than both of these speakers. One question I have is "What inspired you to choose the field you chose and be a speaker about these things?"

Hans Rosling does a TED talk alongside with his son Ola Rosling and they talk about how not to be ignorant about the world. They talk about global population, health and income statistics. Many times we think we know about our world, when in reality we don't. Three points about what makes us ignorant towards the world is having a personal bias, learning in school and lastly, the news. Having a personal bias means that, you have different opinions (experiences) from the communities we are in and the people we meet. In school, most of the stuff we are taught are outdated even though the world has and is being changed. It changes the way we think. The news is also a part of our ignorance because of the unusual headlines that happen. It catches our attention. These types of information leads to our ignorance. The solution is to understand why we are ignorant and try to turn our foreknowledge into strength. We need to be able to, "generalize" our misconceptions.
I agree with these ideas. Mainly because when we are learning in school, most of the stuff we learned are outdated. When we are asked a question about the past or the future, we think differently about our answer because of what we were taught. But just because we are taught something, doesn't mean it's true. Statistics and data always change. Because of ignorance, we choose the answer we think is correct instead of thinking about the future and how things can change. One question I'd ask Rosling is, "how is it that we got beat by the chimps?" I don't think I know a lot about the world, considering that when Rosling was asking the questions, I had the same answers as the audience did. It was unbelievable that we got beat by the chimps.
Three points that Hans Rosling makes are:
ReplyDelete1. People are ignorant and don’t know about global patterns.
2. The media isn’t aware of what is really going on in the world.
3. People are more likely to make wrong decisions thinking that that world is worse than it really is.
I happen to agree with his ideas. We are only exposed to what the media tells us about things. Without the media, we have no way of knowing what is going on around the world. I don’t think that I personally know a lot about the world. It’s hard to really know what is going on in the other side of the world, unless you have first hand information via relatives or friends, you can’t always rely on the media. One question I would like to ask Rosling about his TED Talk is does he think that in the next 20 years the media will become better equipped to convey what is really going on in the world?
3 points Hans Rosling makes are: how people can be ignorant or not aware of the majority of the populations faults, how people become biased on the same thing, and what we can do to further think things that have to do with finding majorities through. Hans Rosling gives great evidence showing the ignorance of the world by charting questions asked by him in an A-B-C format. Apparently this was done in Sweden, USA, and during the TED presentation. The majority of the people that were tested got the questions wrong for the three reasons provided above. And this is why it was important for Ola Rosling to give ideas to stop it
ReplyDeleteI agree with Ola Rosling ideas because if we were to do exactly what he says to make a better society and become unbiased, which isn't bound to ever happen. The majority of the people being tested on this would most likely get the questions right, people tested wouldn't be as "ignorant" about it. The reason it is a problem is because as people are unaware of today's society they will start to tell the youth this and cause a never ending effect of biased news being taught to each other. Ola Rosling believes we can make a difference in the school system to help because teachers recording and telling the students old information that is no longer valid that they once learned when they were younger.
One point that Hans brings up is that most people are clueless about what's going on in the world right now. He makes 3 questions, makes everyone do it on their phones and for most people, they didn't have a clue if women or men have been going to school longer. He also brought up how we are clueless about the death toll from the years 1900-2000. It has been over half a million amount of people who have died from these disasters. He also says how we were beaten by chimps. To sum up all the points that Hans has brought up, many people are ignorant when it comes to world issues. There's also such thing as a personal bias going on. When they asked who can drive better, you or the Swedes, you automatically in your head said that you can. That was just one of his examples that ignorance rules you.
ReplyDelete1. the 3 points that hans ro sling make is about how we should be prepared, how all this starts, how dose this effect our human society.
ReplyDelete2. i agree with his idea because he tells us how this is getting worse and how it's effecting us we don't take a stand to to fix all this.
3. i don't think i know a lot about the world because there so many things u need to know where what happens that's to much to remember so i don't know to much about it.
4. one question i would like to ask them is how long did it take them to figure all this data and everything out.
Breana Fyffe
ReplyDeleteI agree with most ideas Hans Rosling makes. Overall because it's true that people always think that they're right even though they are wrong. In the video studies show what many thought were right was in fact wrong. They were even beaten by chimps according to the video. Another idea is the one with wealth distribution and income. I think that example that was used was inaccurate only because prices have decreased and they do seasonally also. Another fact that I would like to point out is in some areas distribution in wealth aren't equal. No questions.

Hans Rosling makes three points about not being ignorant in the world. The first point he made was personal bias, due to experiences and knowledge the way we handle a situation. The next point he made was the way we are educated, through outdated facts. When we are educated through outdated facts you become ignorant to new things that are happening in the world or can happen because you're not learning about it. The last point he made was new bias. This is the way the person whom is learning intakes information then forms ideas around it, thus birthing a new bias.
I agree with this points because I feel that I am in this process today. Although many teachers try to always incorporate news into lessons I still agree that we are learning outdated facts with outdated sources of information. I feel that I know a lot about the past world we lived in. Students have been tested and taught the history of our country. Through this we have obtained a certain knowledge of the world we used to live in but, not much about the world we live in today. Teachers try to incorporate these events from today with events with the past that might seem similar but, due to statistics our country is very different today. Thought history seems to repeat itself there are aspects of the event that are different that we have become ignorant to because we have already been taught that this event was the same of one in history.
One question I would ask is how did this knowledge about the idea of ignorance to create these tools? What made you believe that people in the world are truly ignorant?
1. Personal Bias. I agree with this statement because teachers could try and teach you something that they've learned back then but technology and new profound evidence and history is changing every day so you can't just teach based off of what you were taught
ReplyDelete2. Outdated Facts. I agree with this statement because outdated facts can lead to misbeliefs and corruption to a topic that may have already been solved.
3. News bias. I agree with this statement because depending on what you read or listen to now & days can also take a massive determination on your judgement as a character and a friend. Anything can be published in today's world, that doesn't mean that what is being published is true.
Irvin Laurent
ReplyDeleteThe 3 points that Hans Rosling was talking about were Wealth distribution around the countries on Earth, Deaths from natural disasters around the world, and how many years women spend in school.
The one question i would ask Hans Rosling is how to stop the issue of international poverty.
Alexa Rivas
ReplyDeleteOne point Rosling makes is that when assuming something bad, we don't acknowledge the majority. I agree with this quote because whenever we think of bad things, we don't relate it to a minority, which it is, and we always make it a big problem without acknowledging the vast majority that is much better. Another point he makes is that we need to know about the present to know about the future. I agree with this quote because we need to know our current state in life in order to expand upon it. One last point that Rosling makes that i would like to acknowledge is that the world is much more prepared against natural disasters and i agree with that because it is true that we have invented ways to stay safe in the face of danger.
I don't think I know that much about the world. I don't really stay connected with news and I spend most of my time isolated and alone so I don't really receive information unless someone tells me. I'm also still a child, so I'm not expected to know a lot, but I'm also going to learn more about the world as i grow up. One question I would like to ask Rosling is: Can anyone truy know so much about the world and be so self aware?
1. Over the past years the deaths of natural disasters have increased tremendously , this is seen as a good thing because although damage is done to the country no loved have been lost . More research and money had been put into spending on time natural disasters and its studies .
ReplyDelete2. Most people are poor and their are no success full people/one hump. Yes I agree with this claim. You shouldn't look down on people and assume that the majority of the world is poor. Instead of looking down believe that people are majority equal. This will help you determine your situation on his test.
3.Hans also proved that in the last 20 years the USA has only 5% of people thats been living in extreme poverty.
I respectfully agree with Hans Roslings ideas.

ReplyDeleteThe ideas that Hans Roslings agrues about are that our because the death toll has been so high from these previous disasters that more research has been started. The next idea Rosling discussed was that we have to be preparing for the next one and not so worried about fixing everything now. The last idea he discussed was was that not everything posted on social media is true. I agree with the idea Rosling presents, being that when a natural disaster hits these are the exact things we should be doing. A question I have to ask Rosling is why does he thinks theses methods are better than ones ive seen before?
1. Personal Bias. I agree with this statement because teachers could try and teach you something that they've learned back then but technology and new profound evidence and history is changing every day so you can't just teach based off of what you were taught

1)Personsl bias , I agree with the statement because someone could tell you what the learned a long time and it might not be true now with all the technology we have like for example people taught the Grand Canyon was 1.5 billion years old but recent study shows it's 5.5 million years old
ReplyDelete2)Outdated Facts. I agree with this statement because outdated facts can lead to misbeliefs and corruption to a topic that may have already been solved.
3) news bias , I wouldn't really know because I rarely watch the news I just watch it for the weather.
ReplyDeleteThree points that Hans Rosling makes are Ignorance, Global population, & Income Data. I agree with his ideas because most of the worlds population is filled with ignorant people. He would rather see people go up in life then go down and that's what the world needs. I needs more people like Rossling. I don't think I know a lot about the world because I know that there are a million maybe even more things I don't know. If I had one question for Rosaling it would be, What does he think we do to stop the ignorance our world and society faces today?
3 points that hans rosling discuss was that ignorance in the world global population and the cause of financial income
